How do I access network drives from home with my PC?
Windows Vista/Windows 7
The steps below are a one time set up to connect to network drives from off-campus on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer:
- Click on Start.
- Click on Computer.
- Click on Map Network Drive.
- Click on Connect to a Web site that you can use to store your documents and pictures, then click on the Next button.
- Click on Choose a custom network location, then click on the Next button.
- In the Internet or network address box, type https://webfiles.ccsu.edu (for faculty/staff) or https://myfiles.ccsu.edu (for students), then click on Next.
- Enter your BlueNet Account username and password.
- Type a descriptive name for the network place (for example 'smithm' or 'Mary Smith's Network Drive'). This name will become a shortcut to the netshare in the Computer window.
- Click on the Next button, then the Finish button.
- The netshare window will open and may prompt you to log in again. If it does, enter your BlueNet Account username and password, and the contents of the netshare will be displayed.
The next time you want to connect to the netshare, open Computer and double-click on the shortcut you created and log in.

- Double click on File Explorer icon in lower left of screen.
- Right click on Computer (Windows 8) or This PC (Windows 10) – select Map network drive.
- Click on Connect to a Web site that you can use to store your documents and pictures.
- Click on the Next button - click on Choose a custom network location, then click on the Next button.
- In the Internet or network address box, type:
- https://webfiles.ccsu.edu (for faculty/staff), then click on Next–or-
- https://myfiles.ccsu.edu (for students), then click on Next.
- On the Windows Security screen type your BlueNet Account username and password – press Enter.
- Type a descriptive name for the network place (for example 'smithm' or 'Mary Smith's Network Drive'). This name will become a shortcut to the netshare in the Computer window.

Once you connect to your netshare, all files that need to be modified should be copied from the netshare to the local machine for editing and then copied back to the netshare once the modifications have been made. This will prevent any information from being lost in case the network connection is broken.

Creating and saving a document once connected to your netshare

PC Users:
- Create a document in any application.
- Save the file locally to your C:, D:, or A: drive.
- Go to My Computer and access the drive containing the saved file.
- Right-click on the saved file and choose Copy.
- Open your netshare window, right-click inside the window and choose Paste.
Mac Users:
Save the file to the desktop and drag and drop it into your netshare window.

Editing an existing document once connected to your netshare
Wireless Network Card For Pc
- Right-click on the document you wish to edit within your netshare window and choose Copy.
- Go to My Computer and access your local drive by double-clicking on it.
- Right-click in the window and choose Paste.
- Open the document from your local drive. Modify the document.
- After you have finished modifying the document save it to your local drive and close it.
- Go to My Computer, right-click on the document you modified and choose Copy.
- Go to your netshare and right-click on it, choose Paste.
